The Community Development Internship is a two-week-long internship that provides an avenue for student leaders of the UK to gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of social inequality, internal migration, and urban dynamics in Lima, Peru. Through academic discussionsfield visits, and community organizing we explore key issues faced by local communities and coordinate with local community leaders. Interns will also learn skills to organize an on-campus community to educate, engage and advocate for global health and development issues. Upon completion of the internship, it is an expectation for students to spread the Movement at their University by creating a Society.

As a community development intern, you will shadow our teams of community organizers and healthcare professionals in Lima as they:

  • Coordinate with local community leaders
  • Visit patients in MEDLIFE's follow-up care program
  • Plan and execute development projects in communities

The program is held from April 4th 2020 - April 19th 2019; full participation throughout the duration of the program is expected. The internship is partially compensated for; emergency travel health insurance and housing expenses (not including food) will be covered.
